Scholarships

Applications for scholarship are available NOW.  Decisions will be made on 2.15.10.  To get on the email list to receive an application, email: oguevara@hotmail.com

 

 General Scholarship Requirements for all Applicants 

  • Debaters must demonstrate a 2 year commitment to team policy debate OR Lincoln Douglas debate before being  eligible. 
  • The student must enroll as a full time student at Weber State
  • The student must also maintain a 3.0 GPA.
  • The student must also be eligible to travel to at least 4 tournaments per semester. 
  • The sudent must enroll in COM 2270 (Argumentation and Debate) their first semester on the team

   In State Scholarship Opportunities

Debate Activity Waivers

Weber State Debate has a limited number of activity waivers that students can earn by competing on the WSU debate team. Applicants must have Utah residency.  The maximum award under the waiver is $2200 per year and is renewable for students in good competitive and academic standing for up to 4 years. Additional scholarship monies may be available.

           Out of State Scholarship Opportunities

Scholarships are available for out of state students, but monies are limited so apply early!  We recommend that only the strongest applicants apply from out of state and that they combine our scholarship offerings with one of the following two additional university programs:

WeberEdge Program for Out of State Students

 Out of state students, check out Weber State's unique EDGE program. If you have a 3.0 high school GPA or ACT score of 23 or higher, plan to enroll as a full time student and looking to live on campus, you may qualify for in-state tuition rates.  For more information about the EDGE Scholarship Program click here:

 WUE Program for Out of State Students

Students who live in participating states may also be eligible for the WUE (Western Undergraduate Exchange) Program.  Under the WUE program, out-of-state students receive a significant discount by being assessed 150% of the in-state tution, instead of the full out of state tuition. Students must be eligible under all of the terms and conditions of the program.  For more information click here:
